Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay was born on August 24 1972 at Long Beach California. DuVernay was encouraged to pursue her love of the arts by her aunt Denise at the age of a small kid. Aunt Denise worked the night shifts as a nursing assistant so she could pursue her love for theater and art in the daytime. DuVernay enjoyed the movie West Side Story, which she showed her. DuVernay recognized that art is an effective tool for promoting social activism. DuVernay was trained by her mother with a conscience for social issues, and encouraged DuVernay to exhibit her artistic talents. DuVernay was raised with her family in Compton and spent her summers in Lowndes County Alabama in the residence of her father's parents. DuVernay's Father recalled witnessing the historic march of Civil Rights Movement on the Edmund Pettus Bridge. It was in Selma Alabama, a neighboring city. DuVernay was inspired by the summers she spent in Alabama to help inspire her film Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay received her graduation certificate at Saint Joseph High School, Lakewood California in 1990. In the year 1990 she was a graduate of Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood California. When she was in school, DuVernay became interested in producing for television journalism. She began her career working as an assistant at CBS News in the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay recalls being asked to examine the garbage inside the house of a member on the jury. As a result of her work she was dissatisfied with journalistic work and entered the publicity business. DuVernay was offered a job straight from college, working as a young publicist for a studio. The DuVernay Agency is her first public relations agency. Alongside PR, the agency has created lifestyle networks and promotional campaigns, such as the Urban Beauty Collective. She is a performer, popularly known for American Experience (1987) and A More Perfect Union (2009). Autumn played Rose from A More Perfect Union as well as Anna Payne from American Experience.
